About Kaede

Pre-A Realm Reborn
Kaede was born within a cave network deep in the Skatay mountains. He was considered a blessing by his tribe, being the sole survivor of an entire season's kits. He often would get into situations which would otherwise result in great injury or death, completely unharmed. He never once broke a bone. Any bloody injuries would heal within a day.He spent the first few decades of his life dedicated to his role as a wood warder and sired many children he never met.Desperate to find a new life, he abandoned his role and left for Dalmasca where he found work as an artisan, repairing armour of adventurers and - unbeknownst to him - crafting weapons for the Garlean Empire. He was almost convinced to join the coup that would destroy Dalmasca by Sartauvoir quo Soranus. At the behest of a Viera acquaintance, Vavri, who was acting as a double agent for the Garlean Empire, he fled Dalmasca with a group of refugees.
Some time later, he landed in HingashiKaede remained in Kugane for several years, working in bars and clubs, before meeting Deryk. The pair travelled together across Koshu up until the fall of Dalamud, which the pair witnessed from the top of Kugane castle. Since that night, Kaede's regular migraines soon turned into what we would recognise as Echo visions.Realising Kaede's connection to Hydaelyn, Deryk insisted Kaede should travel to Eorzea and seek out the Circle of Knowing/Scions of the Seventh Dawn.


A Realm Reborn
Kaede spent some time in the Lavender Beds, continuing his work in bars and clubs until his Echo visions became too intense that he had to seek answers from the Scions.At first, Kaede was fine with the odd mission here and there, already begin a skilled archer and having a solid knowledge of how to use white magic. However, he soon grew to resent his role as a "hero."He found solace within Haurchefant Greystone and quickly began an intense romance with him, choosing to spend time in Camp Dragonhead over the Rising Stones. Haurchefant was Kaede's first long-term relationship since being in Dalmasca.
Kaede was not present for the Crystal Tower and Coils of Bahamut raids. Kaede did make a Zodiac weapon.


Heavensward
Kaede was introduced to the Foretemps house as Haurchefant's partner and welcomed with open arms.
Haurchefant and Kaede planned to get married once everything with Thordan and the Ascians was resolved. Unfortunately, this did not come to pass due to Haurchefant's untimely death.
Fuelled by pure rage of the loss of his beloved, Kaede stabbed Thordan to death after the battle at the Singularity Reactor.
Kaede remained in the Fortemps manor for a short period of time, falling into a deep depression. He made several regretful choices during this time, including sleeping with a mourning Artoirel. The pair never speak of this incident, citing it as a moment of weakness for the pair of them.
Unable to handle living in the Fortemps manor any longer, Kaede chose instead to remain in the Forgotten Knight until he decided to leave Ishgard forever and return to the Lavender Beds. Hearing of this, Aymeric de Borel, who had a romantic interest in Kaede, encouraged him to instead use the spare room in the Borel manor and take some time to himself to heal. During this time, the pair formed a tentative, budding romance. Despite Kaede's heartbreak, he had hope he could learn to love again and be by Aymeric's side.
When Aymeric was stabbed, Kaede remained at his bedside for the whole night, healing him and tending to his wounds himself. Once Aymeric regained consciousness, Kaede confessed his love to the Lord Commander and agreed to stay with him in Ishgard for good.
Kaede trained under Aymeric as a Paladin, wanting to learn how to use the Fortemps shield properly. He also provided advice to the Temple Knights' Chirurgeons, teaching them simple white magic spells.
Shortly after this, Kaede was approached by Francel and asked to be part of the Ishgardian Restoration committee. Finally finding a home and a role where he could use his artisanal skills, Kaede accepted, relieved to hang up his hero mantle for good.
Kaede was not present for the Alexander Raids, the Warring Triad Trials or the Shadows of Mhach Raids. Kaede did make an anima weapon.

Stormblood
Kaede was hesitant to join the battles in Gyr Abania. He still held a bitter resentment for the lack of action in freeing his homeland. He'd seen the rise of the Garlean Empire and found it difficult to put his heart into fighting for Ala Mhigo.
On the night of the raid on Rhalgr's Reach, Kaede was beaten half to death by Zenos, suffering his first ever broken bones; several ribs, and right his wrist (dominant). Not wanting to die in a battle he had no heart in, Kaede fled Gyr Abania and returned to Ishgard to heal.
He asked for a formal withdrawal from battles in the east, asking for Arenvald to take his place should an echo user be required for battle.
Kaede spent much of the Stormblood story in Ishgard, working on the Firmament as the head artisan. He was present during the battle at Ala Mhigo and fought alongside Aymeric, Lucia and the Temple Knights. He was part of the group of Warriors of Light who battled Shinryu.
Kaede was not present for the Omega raids, Eureka, the Four Lords trials or Return of Ivalice raids.

Shadowbringers
Kaede was called along with the rest of the Scions. In an attempt to prevent himself from being snatched away like his friends, he bound his soul to Aymeric's in a traditional ceremony of his tribe.
It was for naught, however, as Kaede's soul was still plucked from his body and taken to the First. Kaede's body remained on the Source with the rest of the Scions.
Upon arriving in the First, Kaede refused to help the Exarch, not trusting him and angered by him removing Kaede from his peaceful life in Ishgard. Kaede instead went with Feo Ul to Il Mheg and honed his skills as a White Mage.
Kaede could see Ardbert, but at first chose to ignore his presence, fearing he was hallucinating. Ardbert is Kaede's shard.
During this time, he had several chance encounters with Emet-Selch and fostered a tentative friendship with him. Kaede even entrusted the Ascian with letters to take across the rift to Aymeric.
Feo Ul taught Kaede how to send messages to Aymeric through dreams as the fae can.
After Innocence was defeated, the Light had corrupted Kaede's eyesight completely, leaving him blind. He was convinced he would die in the First and become a Sin Eater. Before the Scions made their way to Amaurot, Kaede spoke with Aymeric in a dream, urging him to move on and have a happy life. Aymeric declined this request and believed that Kaede would return to him.
After defeating Emet-Selch, Kaede forged a deep bond with Feo Ul, sharing the role of Titania with them. In exchange for his returning eyesight, Kaede would be cursed to an immortal life. He would also be expected to become the Fae King if Feo Ul were to fall. Longing to be able to return to Aymeric and see him again, Kaede accepted this contract.
Physical changes include fae wings sprouting from his back when using Temperance, Passage of Arms and Aetherial Shift. By Dawntrail, Kaede can summon his fae wings on command and fly great distances.
After returning to the Source, Kaede and Aymeric take a short trip to Kaede's old home in Shirogane. During this time, Aymeric proposes to Kaede and Kaede accepts.
Shortly after returning to Ishgard, Kaede is asked to join part of the Resistance. Finally able to work towards freeing his homeland, Kaede accepts and spends several months in the East. It is there he is reunited with Satauvoir and the two duel. With his newly heightened abilities as a White Mage, Kaede makes quick work of the Black Mage.
After the Bozja campain concludes, Kaede returns to Ishgard, his eyesight restored, and plans for the wedding. Alphinaud and Arenvald walk Kaede down the aisle, and Alisaie is the ring bearer.
Kaede and Aymeric visit Thavnair for their honeymoon and are greeted by the Satrap Ahewann and invited to a banquet on their first night in Radz-at-Han. Varshahn is also present, expressing great interest in the Dragonsong War. The couple are soon introduced to the true Satrap, Vrtra and are personally thanked for aiding Hraesvelgr in felling Nidhogg and bringing the Dragonsong War to an end.On their second day of their honeymoon, the Tower of Zot appears on the Thavnairian coast. While on their way to warn Vrtra of the tower's tempering powers, Kaede receives and Echo vision of the Final Days.The couple return to Ishgard that same day.After the battle at Paglth'an, Kaede is horrified to learn of the fate of Arenvald, a boy he'd considered his own son. He is infuriated by Fourchenault Leveilleur's cruel act of disowning his children.Kaede vows to destroy Fandaniel for the destruction and pain he had caused.Kaede is not present for the Eden raids, The Sorrows of Werlyt trials or the Nier raids. Kaede was present for the whole of the Bozja storyline and received two resistance weapons for White Mage and Paladin.

Endwalker
Kaede wanted to visit Labyrinthos, but was asked to go to Thavnair due to his recent visit and having already met the Satrap. He keeps his knowledge of Vrtra a secret.
Kaede requests Aymeric to let Lucia lead the Ilsabard Contingent, to which he obliges.
Kaede is not bodysnatched by Zenos and Fandaniel.
Kaede is present at the fall of Zodiark.
Kaede goes to Elpis and forges a strong bond with Hythlodaeus. He learns a lot about his ancient self, Cassius, who was a creature from another galaxy that Venat had brought to Amaurot in order to help an epidemic of insomnia. Cassius had a natural ability to help those who rest near them to fall into a deep sleep. Cassius was also the first Red Mage, which Kaede is surprised by, as no matter how hard he had tried over the years, he was never able to master black magic.
Kaede returns to Ishgard and helps Aymeric and Artoirel fell the Profane Fafnir.
Kaede leaves for Sharlayan and prepares for the trial with Hydaelyn and excursion across the universe.
Aymeric joins Kaede in Sharlayan the day before the Ragnarok is set to depart. The couple finally get a chance to fully explore Labyrinthos.In Ultima Thule, Kaede is the last one standing, walking to the end alone. He is not present for the final battles with Endsinger or Zenos, getting sent back to the Ragnarok via teleporter.After returning home, Kaede throws himself into curating his island sanctuary, gifted to him by Tataru. He and Aymeric spend the summer there, where Kaede recounts everything that happened during the Final Days and his time in Elpis and Ultima Thule.Deryk soon visits Eorzea and convinces Kaede to investigate the Omphalos he had discovered. While initially irritated by Deryk's ulterior motives for sending Kaede to Eorzea in the first place, the pair become friends again and decide to go on another adventure together after the events of the Myths of the Realm raids.
Kaede is not present for any of the post-Endwalker patches. He also does not return to Elpis for Pandaemonium. He does not acquire a Manderville weapon.


DawntrailKaede and Deryk go to Tural as an adventure for old time's sake. Kaede wants to try his hand at using red magic, wanting to improve his connection to Cassius. Something tells him Cassius is still alive and watching over him.
Kaede is not present for the rite of succession, nor the battle with Valigarmanda.
Kaede does, however, venture beyond the dome, intent on saving the realm from whatever forces are stealing the souls of the living.
Kaede is present in Everkeep and in Living Memory and battles Zoraal Ja and Queen Eternal.
Kaede is not present for most of post-Dawntrail, having found out he was pregnant sometime after Living Memory was shut down. Learning of his husband's pregnancy, Aymeric joins Kaede and the couple spend the remaining months in the palace in Tuliyollal.
Kaede and Aymeric's child, Euclase, is born shortly after the Meso Terminal is switched back on.
Kaede, Aymeric and Euclase return to Eorzea alongside the twins, Deryk and Erenville.
Kaede goes to the moon and gets teleported to the Thirteenth by the Key. This would be his first time meeting Zero and Golbez. After the fight with Enuo, he returns to the Source and meets Halmarut. The Key is furthermore kept in Kaede's possession.
With the news of the coming Solstice, Kaede readies himself for another journey across the stars, though is saddened to leave his husband and infant behind.
Kaede did not do the Arcadion raids, the Echoes of Vana'diel raids or any of the post-Dawntrail content except for the Enuo trial. He does not have an Occult weapon.
